Clean a facade darkened by pollution and soot

Facades in traffic areas gain a grey/black layer of pollution and soot that ages them by years. We remove that crust with moderate pressure and a suitable product, bringing back the original colour, without "eating" sound paint.

Why it is not worth putting off

The black crust holds moisture and acidity against the render. Beyond the look, it speeds up the decay of the paint and the mortar.

How we do it

  • A descaling product + moderate pressure
  • Telescopic lance up to ~9-10 m without scaffolding
  • A test patch before proceeding
  • Controlled run-off when there is a garden or neighbours

Mistakes we see (and avoid)

  • High pressure on peeling paint, strips off even more paint
  • A jet up close, leaves visible marks
  • Ignoring it, the pollution sets in and the stain becomes permanent

Frequently asked questions

Does the colour really come back?
Yes, when it is dirt over sound paint. If the paint is already degraded underneath, we say so first.
Won't it damage the render?
No, with moderate pressure. We always test on a discreet spot first.
And tall buildings?
From the ground we reach ~2 storeys. Above that needs a platform, we say so straight away, we do not pretend.
