Washing of block paving and interlocking concrete blocks

Block paving is practical and good-looking, but moss settles in the sand joints and the surface turns green and slippery. We wash the blocks and the joints with controlled pressure, without "taking apart" the setting.

Why it is not worth putting off

Moss in the joints holds moisture, loosens the sand and, over time, unlevels the blocks. What is a wash today may be re-laying the paving tomorrow.

How we do it

  • Rotary cleaner over the blocks, an even result
  • Controlled pressure on the joints so as not to drag out all the sand
  • Optional joint-sand refill at the end
  • Anti-moss to delay regrowth

Mistakes we see (and avoid)

  • A strong jet on the joints, pulls out the sand and loosens the blocks
  • Acid, corrodes the concrete of the blocks
  • Leaving the moss, the blocks end up unlevelling

Frequently asked questions

Does all the joint sand come out?
We control the pressure so as not to drag it out; if needed, we refill joint sand at the end.
Do the blocks come loose?
No, with adjusted pressure. Already loose blocks we flag before proceeding.
Does the green come back?
Anti-moss delays it a lot. Shaded areas benefit from an annual wash.
