Green film, algae and pollution age a house and darken the render. We remove them with an anti-algae product and moderate pressure, bringing back the original colour, essential if you are going to sell or rent, and a before/after that impresses.
Why it is not worth putting off
The green does not stay only on the surface: the algae keep the render damp and, over time, degrade the paint and the mortar. Treating it early costs a wash; leaving it costs repainting and repairs.
How we do it
- Anti-algae product + moderate pressure, cleans without "eating" sound paint
- Telescopic lance: we reach ~9-10 m from the ground, no scaffolding
- We always do a discreet test patch before proceeding
- Controlled run-off when there is a garden or neighbours nearby
Mistakes we see (and avoid)
- High pressure on peeling paint, strips off even more paint
- Acid on natural stone, stains and corrodes
- Promising 3-4 storeys "from the ground", above that needs a platform (we say so straight away)
