Real case: a tufted corner sofa with a well-used chaise longue

Every corner sofa has a favourite spot, and it is almost always the chaise longue. That is where legs get stretched at the end of the day, where dinner is eaten in front of the TV, where whoever arrives first lies down. On this beige tufted sofa it showed at first glance: the rest was fine, and the chaise had dark splashes scattered between the buttons.

The trouble with tufting

A tufted finish, with buttons and square padding, is beautiful and treacherous. Every button is a small hollow where dust, crumbs and grease from hands build up, and where a cloth cannot reach. Scrubbing by hand only pushes the dirt into the seams, and with too much water a ring appears around each stain afterwards, harder to remove than the original stain. We explain this in detail in how to remove stains from a sofa.

How the cleaning went

First, deep vacuuming with a narrow nozzle, hollow by hollow and seam by seam, to lift loose dust before anything gets wet. Then pre-treatment of the marked areas with a professional, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic product, safe for children and pets. Finally the injection-extraction machine: it injects the solution into the fibres and sucks it straight back out with the dissolved dirt. The fabric is left damp, not soaked, and the dirt comes out instead of going into the filling.

One detail that matters: the whole sofa is cleaned, not just the chaise. Clean only the dirtiest part and it ends up lighter than the rest, so the sofa gets «a new patch». Seat, back and arms get the same treatment, and anti-mite treatment is included. Drying usually takes 2 to 6 hours, depending on the fabric and the humidity at home.

How much a corner sofa costs

A corner sofa or one with a chaise longue costs €75, guide price, with no VAT added later. For comparison: a 2-seater is €35 and a 3-seater €55; the full table is in how much it costs to clean a sofa in Porto. On light fabrics like this one, consider sofa fabric protection right after cleaning: the next drops stay on the surface and wipe off with a cloth.

Sofa cleaning at home is available in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos, Maia and Gondomar. Have a corner sofa like this? Calculate the price in 60 seconds and book with no prepayment.
