Slippery terrace and balcony in winter: how to prevent falls

There is a danger at home that goes unnoticed until the day of the accident: a terrace or balcony covered in green algae, which turns into a slide with the first rain.

Why it gets slippery

Green film and algae form a biological layer on the surface. When dry, you barely notice it; when wet, it drastically reduces grip. On smooth floors (tiles and ceramics) the risk is even higher.

Who is most at risk

Children running around, older people and anyone carrying something heavy. A fall on a terrace can have serious consequences, and it is entirely avoidable.

The solution

A high-pressure wash completely removes the green film and restores the natural grip of the surface. On wooden decking we use gentle mode so the fibres are not raised. You notice the result as soon as you walk on it.

How often

In shady or very damp areas, one wash a year (ideally in spring) keeps the terrace safe for the whole good season. See the terrace and deck washing service or calculate the price.
