Restaurants and terraces: washing the paving, the grease and the bins
The terrace is the first thing a customer sees. Stuck chewing gum, grease near the kitchen, drink marks and smelly bins by the door drive away more customers than any menu attracts.
What dirties a terrace
- Grease and oil near the kitchen and the delivery area
- Sugary drinks that turn sticky and darken the stone
- Chewing gum stuck to the paving
- Green algae in shaded corners, especially in autumn and winter
- Rubbish bins with food waste
How we wash
On the paving we use a rotary surface cleaner, which washes evenly with no jet stripes, and hot water up to 98 °C for grease and oil, which cold water will not lift. On Portuguese cobblestone we never use acid, which stains the stone for good (see why acid is never used). The difference from a home machine is in home machine or professional.
Bins
Restaurant bins fill with food scraps and the smell reaches the terrace. We wash each bin for €15, under bin washing. We are one of the few doing this service for individual businesses in Greater Porto.
How often
It depends on footfall and the kitchen. As a guide: the terrace deep-cleaned before high season and at the end of summer, and the bins more often in the warm months. We agree a time with you outside service hours.
How much it costs
Paving from €4.5/m² (€89 minimum), bins €15 each, with an invoice. For example, a 40 m² terrace starts at €180, plus the bins.
